Placements24 is seeking a Chemical Engineer focused on Production Optimization for our Port Elizabeth facility. The role blends on-site data analysis with remote processing and reporting to boost efficiency, throughput and safety.

You will analyze production data, identify bottlenecks, implement data-driven improvements, conduct SPC/HAZOP support, develop SOPs, and train staff. A 5+ year track record in chemical manufacturing and Lean/Six Sigma expertise are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering required.
• Minimum 5 years in a chemical manufacturing or production environment.
• Strong analytical skills with data analysis experience.
• Experience with Lean Six Sigma and process optimization.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze production data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.

• Conduct process capability studies and implement statistical process control (SPC).
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for optimized processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing or production environment.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis and statistical tools (e.g., Minitab, Excel).
• Proven ability to identify and solve complex production problems.
• Knowledge of process optimization techniques and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
• Familiarity with process safety management (PSM) principles.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work effectively in both on-site and remote settings.
• Experience with batch and continuous processing is desirable.
