Responsibilities
- Responsible for all aspects of meal preparation, clean-up, and general upkeep of the kitchen.
- Attend and give updates at weekly staff meetings.
- Report acts of maltreatment, neglect, or violations of company policies immediately to the Unit Manager.
- Organize, clean, and receive all food storage areas, ensuring proper rotation of ingredients to prevent waste and compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Calculate menus to maximize gross profit and actively increase the unit's profitability.
- Train staff for portion control and presentation of dishes.
- Order stocks to meet quality, quantity, and budget requirements.
- Control hygiene and supervise kitchen cleaning.
- Maintain the chef's office, including filing, typing memos, issuing orders on Mymarket, and food costing.
- Engage in production planning.

Qualifications
- Minimum 8 years of varied kitchen experience including food prep, line cooking, fry cooking, and expediter roles.
- Senior Certificate / Grade 12 and a relevant tertiary qualification (Associate Culinary Degree/Diploma or recognized in-service training).
- At least 3 years of management experience.
- Previous kitchen manager or chef background is required.
- Ability to do full menu costing (tec books).
- Computer literacy is essential.
- Valid driver's license is required.
