Job description

We are seeking a Checker Energy to ensure all equipment and processes are fully utilized and functional. This role is responsible for the efficient operation of the outside area of the plant within their area of responsibility, ensuring the safe execution of outside activities.

As a Checker Energy, your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring the plant operates within required production rates and quality specifications.
  • Conducting routine checks on auxiliary equipment once per shift to verify proper functioning.
  • Reporting any equipment defects, process abnormalities, or deviations from standard operating conditions.
  • Overseeing the safe, timely, and efficient offloading of fuel oil, acid, and caustic tankers.
  • Identifying abnormal or emergency plant conditions and applying corrective actions as per BOP (Best Operating Practices).
  • Performing housekeeping duties with the team to maintain cleanliness and order in your area of responsibility.
  • Taking process samples as required to support quality and process control.
  • Promoting a safe work environment by identifying, reporting, and managing risks.
  • Immediately reporting accidents, injuries, or fires to the Process Controller or Shift Superintendent.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety procedures, legal regulations, and BBS (Behavior-Based Safety) practices.
  • Acting as Outside Operator – Energy when required to ensure operational continuity.
  • Supporting team development by coaching and training new employees in your area of responsibility.

Administration duties include:

  • Accurately capturing and recording plant data, deviations, and notifications to enable performance tracking and process improvement.

Qualifications we are looking for:

  • Matric (Grade 12) with Maths & Physics or N3 in Pulp and Paper.
  • Minimum of 1 to 3 years relevant experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
