Chartered Senior Bridge Engineer

Job Description:

An international consultancy is currently recruiting for a Chartered Senior Bridge Engineer to join their large Manchester office, which comprises 74 staff covering many engineering disciplines. They are seeking Chartered Senior Bridge Engineers with technical design and project leadership experience to join their large Bridge Structures team.

The role offers opportunities to work on a variety of Bridge Projects, including frameworks such as National Highways Major Projects, the National Highways SDF Framework, and numerous Local Authority schemes for new bridges and maintenance. A major project, the Loon Gorge, involves 11 new bridge structures, and there may be opportunities to work on Rail Bridge Structures with Network Rail.

As a Senior Bridge Engineer, you will play a key role in the detailed design of bridge structures using software such as MIDAS, LUSAS, and Superstress. You will also lead a small team of engineers and technicians, managing and delivering the technical output of your schemes.

Responsibilities:

1. Undertaking services within an engineering environment, including scheme investigation, site and structure inspections, data collection and analysis, feasibility studies, preliminary and detailed design, tender document preparation, and construction supervision.
2. Managing the delivery of technical outputs of project teams.
3. Acting as Lead Designer on team projects.
4. Contributing to technical excellence and innovation within the team.
5. Supporting Value Management and Engineering to ensure innovative scheme delivery.
6. Promoting and implementing SHEQ improvements across projects.
7. Checking and certifying design deliverables, including drawings, specifications, reports, and contract documents.
8. Providing technical input for new work proposals.
9. Ensuring project delivery aligns with company management systems, including health and safety, project, and risk management.
10. Developing team talent through coaching and mentoring Engineers, Technicians, and Graduates.
11. Promoting health and safety awareness and compliance within the workplace.
