Job summary

ARCS is seeking a senior finance leader to guide the Fund's financial strategy, governance, and operations from Centurion. You will steer budgeting, controls, and reporting, aligning finance with organisational aims while ensuring regulatory compliance and strong stakeholder engagement.

You will lead a finance team, oversee monthly closes, and coordinate with auditors and governance bodies to ensure accurate financial disclosures and robust internal controls.

Qualifications

  • Postgraduate qualification in Finance, Commerce, Accounting Sciences or a related discipline at NQF Level 8.
  • Chartered Accountant qualification would be advantageous.
  • Registration with the relevant professional body.
  • 5–10 years' relevant finance experience, preferably post-articles.
  • Proven management and leadership experience.
  • Experience in operational financial management processes.
  • Experience working with external auditors.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience of internal controls and financial compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in formulation and implementation of the Fund strategy.
  • Align the finance division's strategy and objectives with the broader organisational strategy.
  • Ensure financial transactions are allocated to the appropriate business units.
  • Design, implement and monitor financial controls supporting data integrity.
  • Prepare and present budgets to governance and management structures.
  • Prepare and review General Ledger reconciliations.
  • Prepare month-end financial reports and management presentations.
  • Review budget-related fee calculations and coordinate consolidation of financial information.
  • Standardise financial submissions per reporting formats and standards.
  • Coordinate cost-centre budget submissions and facilitate approvals.
  • Engage with governance on financial, regulatory and compliance matters.
  • Compile and submit fund performance and financial status reports to regulators.
  • Manage statutory and regulatory financial obligations.
  • Coordinate payments relating to insurance and fund-related obligations.
  • Draft and review service-level agreements for shared resources.
  • Provide financial support on strategic and stakeholder projects.
  • Present financial information clearly to senior stakeholders and governance structures.
  • Onboard/offboard team members; support organisational change in finance.

Duties & Responsibilities
Financial Management
  • Participate in the formulation and implementation of the Fund strategy.
  • Align the finance division's strategy and objectives with the broader organisational strategy.

  • Coordinate payments relating to applicable insurance and fund-related obligations.

  • Provide financial support on strategic and stakeholder projects affecting the Fund.
  • Present financial information clearly and concisely to senior stakeholders and governance structures.
People Management
  • Support the onboarding and offboarding of team members.
  • Support organisational change initiatives within the finance function.
  • Coach, develop and train team members to perform effectively.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and promote effective communication.
  • Manage the performance of direct reports and ensure adherence to required standards.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees and manage disciplinary matters where required.
  • Participate in the recruitment and selection of finance team members.
  • Identify and facilitate opportunities for employee development through coaching, training and on-the-job development.
  • Approve leave and manage overtime and related processes within the applicable delegation of authority.
Budget Management
  • Assist with the preparation and review of the departmental budget.
  • Approve expenditure within the delegated authority framework.
  • Monitor expenditure against approved budgets.
  • Identify, investigate and report budget variances through the appropriate reporting and approval structures.
Requirements
Qualifications & Professional Experience
