Chartered Accountant required in Parktown, Johannesburg.
As a Senior Accountant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions while upholding compliance with accounting standards. You will contribute to the organization’s overall financial health and work closely with cross-functional teams, providing key insights to support informed strategic decision-making.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare accurate monthly management accounts (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow).
- Analyze financial data and performance metrics to support management decisions.
- Month-End & Year-End Close
- Lead month-end/year-end close processes.
- Support financial audits with necessary documentation.
- Assist with annual budgeting.
- Payment Processing
- Process payment batches and manage electronic payments.
- Maintain payment schedules and resolve related issues.
- General Ledger Management
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Investigate and correct discrepancies.
- Financial Controls & Compliance
- Enforce internal controls to ensure compliance and safeguard assets.
- Support internal and external audit preparation.
- Maintain controls for stock receipt accuracy.
- Stock & Inventory Management
- Oversee and reconcile stock receipts with purchase orders.
- Prepare supplier reconciliations and resolve stock-related issues.
- Collaborate on inventory valuation using methods like FIFO or LIFO.
- Budgeting & Forecasting
- Contribute to budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Provide insights to support accurate budget planning.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Accounting (Honours)
- Preferred universities: UCT, UJ, University of Pretoria, Wits
Experience:
- CA(SA): 1–3 years post-articles
- CIMA: 2–3 years
- BCom Hons (Accounting): 3–5 years
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience with Pastel or similar accounting software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Deadline-driven with good time management and planning
- Able to work well under pressure and take initiative
