What you’ll be doing:

• Leading the reliability testing efforts for GEW products and systems
• Ensuring compliance with industry standards (ISO, IEC, MIL-STD)
• Collaborating with design teams to solve technical challenges and improve products
• Driving safety and performance to the next level across multiple high-stakes projects

Job Purpose:

The Certification Engineer / Quality and Reliability Engineer will be responsible for managing and leading all reliability testing activities, including EMC, environmental stress testing, and HALT testing for GEW products and systems. This role requires the engineer to work closely with internal teams to ensure that products meet required reliability standards and are ready for production. Additionally, the role will ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards throughout the product lifecycle, from design through production to release.

People Management:

• Manage a small team of reliability engineers and technicians, driving performance, development, and adherence to safety procedures.
• Provide training and support to team members and internal stakeholders regarding qualification standards, design for reliability, and product compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Reliability Testing: Lead Environmental, EMC, HALT, and ESS testing on products to ensure compliance with commercial, MIL-STD, and EU specifications (e.g., MIL-STD 810, MIL-STD 461, IEC61000 series).
• Provide technical advice to internal design engineers, ensuring products are compliant with safety and environmental standards.
• Failure Analysis: Lead investigations into product failures using methods like Root Cause Analysis and implement corrective actions to improve product reliability.
• Qualification Plans: Draft and manage qualification plans, ensuring compliance with legal, contractual, and HENSOLDT standards.
• Systems Safety: Act as the Designated Systems Safety Engineer (DSSE) for GEW in HENSOLDT projects, ensuring safety standards are met throughout the product lifecycle.
• Compliance Documentation: Issue ROHS/REACH, safety, and third-party certificates required for GEW products to enter the EU market.
• Process Development: Develop and implement reliable processes for compliance, environmental stress testing, and system qualification.
• Team Leadership: Manage a team of reliability engineers and technicians, driving continuous improvement and ensuring high levels of performance.
• Consultation: Provide consultation support for internal teams, including sales, product development, and manufacturing to ensure products meet the highest reliability and compliance standards.

Skills and Experience Required:

• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in reliability engineering, with exposure to EMC, environmental testing, and HALT/HASS testing.
• BSc/BEng in Electronic / Software Engineering (or related)
• In-depth knowledge of industry standards such as ISO, IEC, MIL-STD, ROHS, REACH, and EU safety product requirements.
• Strong analytical skills with a hands-on approach to solving complex reliability issues.
• Proven track record of leading testing teams and providing technical guidance.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and adhere to tight deadlines.
• Experience in drafting and managing qualification and testing plans, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and legal standards.
