Position Summary
Operate Ready Mix / Concrete Truck safely and efficiently, adhering to Martin Marietta and Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily preventative maintenance, record-keeping, and inspections on vehicles, including fueling, cleaning, tire/light inspection, and checking/adding fluids as needed.
- Use water hoses to clean mixers between loads.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Assist maintenance with repairs as needed.
- Visually inspect the consistency of concrete in the mixer.
- Communicate and direct coworkers verbally, via radio, or hand signals.
- Provide appropriate documentation on delivery tickets, ensuring all are signed and returned.
- Exercise good judgment regarding work site access, unloading, and operation.
- Maintain good customer relations and professional appearance.
- Assist in training co-workers as needed.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout and regulatory compliance.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Possess a Class A or B Commercial Drivers' License (CDL).
- One-year experience operating tandem trucks and/or Ready Mix trucks preferred.
- Maintain a safe driving record and active DOT qualification.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Ability to perform well in a team environment and be self-motivated.
Physical and Working Conditions
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, reach, squat, stand, walk, bend, crawl, kneel, push, and pull.
- Operate hand controls and foot pedals with both hands and feet.
- Perform overhead reaching and use vibration tools.
- Tolerate working outdoors in all weather conditions and at heights up to 9 feet.
- Work in areas with potential high noise levels.
- Must be able to work early mornings, evenings, and every other Saturday.
