Job description

Catering Manager required in Lynwood Glen, Pretoria.

Looking for a hands-on, enthusiastic Catering Manager to lead the daily operations of a high-end catering facility based in Lynnwood Glen.

This role requires a strong leader who is passionate about food, especially upmarket functions and baking, and is comfortable managing staff, planning menus, and maintaining the highest standards in food safety, quality, and presentation.

The ideal candidate will be resilient under pressure and thrive in a structured, fast-paced environment.

Salary: R22 00 – R25 000 per month.

5-Year Fixed Term Contract.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 essential
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar catering or kitchen management role
  • Proven ability to manage kitchen operations, including food preparation and presentation
  • Skilled in menu development, including upmarket function menus and baking
  • Strong understanding of food costings, ordering, and stock control
  • Leadership experience with the ability to delegate, motivate, and manage a team effectively
  • Sound knowledge of HR processes and staff performance management
  • Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) compliance knowledge and experience in implementation
  • Computer literate (MS Office and kitchen systems such as MarketMan, Jolt, or recipe costing software)
  • Own reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license
  • Willingness to work long hours, weekends, and shifts as required
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills
  • High attention to detail in food quality and visual presentation
  • Energetic, positive, and bubbly personality
  • Able to perform well under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Passionate about the culinary arts and hospitality industry

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day kitchen and food service operations
  • Plan, cost, and implement menus for regular service and special functions
  • Supervise kitchen staff, including scheduling, delegation, and training
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, safety, and food quality
  • Manage stock, orders, supplier relationships, and inventory records
  • Monitor and control food and labour costs within budget
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards (HSE)
  • Collaborate with management on service delivery and customer satisfaction
