Category Specialist : It Hardware / Supplies

The Category Specialist for ITH and ITS will be responsible for driving the growth of existing accounts and generating new business.

Reporting to the Category Manager, the Category Specialist will execute a strategic buyers visit plan to nurture commercial relationships in the region.

Responsibilities:

1. Drive sales growth by managing existing accounts and generating new business.
2. Achieve regional IT Hardware & IT Supplies sales targets.
3. Maximize sales and margins through retail, commercial branches, contracts, and tenders.
4. Foster strong relationships with clients, identifying opportunities and risks.
5. Analyze sales trends and customer data to anticipate business needs.
6. Plan and execute regional promotions and in-store retail events to increase product and brand awareness.
7. Provide product training and support to sales teams.
8. Manage stock levels, negotiate with suppliers, and ensure efficient stock movement.
9. Oversee the management of supplier contracts, pricing, and promotions.
10. Regular customer visits and continuous engagement with sales representatives and call centers.
11. Resolve customer queries and ensure excellent customer service.

Key Skills & Requirements:

1. Minimum of 6 years of IT sales experience, with a proven track record of meeting targets.
2. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
3. ERP experience (Axapta preferred).
4. Excellent customer service, communication, and negotiation skills.
5. Self-driven, results-oriented, with strong attention to detail.
6. Ability to manage projects and work cross-functionally.
7. Knowledge of IT hardware and supplies, with an understanding of the ICT reseller industry.
8. Ability to work independently, with strong planning and organizational skills.
9. Relevant qualifications in Sales, Marketing, or related fields are a plus.
10. Own transport required.

Qualifications & Experience:

1. 6+ years of IT or sales experience, ideally in the ICT Reseller industry.
2. Relevant sales or marketing qualifications.
3. Own transport is essential (and drivers licence).

This role will be based in Germiston with frequent travel in Gauteng and occasional travel out of the region.
