Role overview

The Category Marketing Project Manager is responsible for supporting the development of the category E2E (end-to-end) plans, including Innovation projects within the AOU (Africa Operating Unit) Experience Loop process. They are a key member of the Category Teams, ensuring adherence to the calendar and timely delivery of key outputs. The Category PMO coordinates interactions between different functional areas related to E2E plan development, helps remove barriers, and provides visibility on risks and mitigations.

What you will do:

  1. Plan, lead, and support the implementation of the Experience Loop process within the Brave & Boundless framework for all E2E plans in the respective categories.
  2. Ensure projects are delivered on time, in full, and meet objectives.
  3. Coordinate and lead Category Extended team meetings throughout the year, from planning to execution.
  4. Manage Fusion point meetings and decision point meetings with the Senior E2E PMO, collaborating with CETs to meet deadlines.
  5. Load E2E plans into Workfront as per the Experience Loop requirements.
  6. Coordinate Innovation launches as part of E2E plans where applicable (e.g., SAC).
  7. Promote a PMO community of practice to share best practices and develop agile working methods.
  8. Utilize Workfront for all E2E plans, including tracking launch dates, documentation, and risk management.

Project Leadership & Execution

  • Provide cross-functional leadership, set agendas, and empower teams.
  • Communicate project vision clearly and engage CETs to deliver on it.
  • Align stakeholders with plans and objectives, and manage change effectively.
  • Anticipate challenges and collaborate efficiently with CETs and WPP network.

Relationship Management

  • Manage and collaborate with business units to allocate resources effectively.
  • Inspire internal and external partners to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Develop feedback mechanisms for continuous process improvement.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Guide project managers across the region, clarifying roles, providing coaching, and coordinating training.
  • Coordinate with the Technical team on Innovation processes.
  • Work with marketing and commercial teams on the End-to-End stage gate process.

Role Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Marketing or Business Development.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Marketing, or Social Sciences; MBA preferred.
  • Experience in marketing projects is highly desirable.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • FMCG experience is an advantage.
