CATEGORY MANAGER, Pinetown DBN, Hardware / Building Industry, Approx. R40k to R45k Basic + Benefits

POSITION INFO :

RS Recruitment Services is assisting a leading organisation in the RETAIL HARDWARE industry to recruit a CATEGORY MANAGER / BUYER based at their offices in DURBAN. The role offers a basic salary of R40 000 to R45 000, plus a car allowance and medical aid. An annual incentive is also available, dependent on performance.

Our client has been in business for over 30 years and operates a group of 350 retail stores across Southern Africa.

Purpose of the position :

To facilitate the effective management of the timber, openings & joinery, and flat sheet & boards (category 2) at a regional level.

Applicants should have / be the following :

  • Matric – mandatory.
  • National Certificate / Diploma / Degree in Marketing Management or similar, required.
  • A minimum of 2 to 3 years buying experience in the timber hardware retail environment, including joinery, doors, cabinets, and openings – mandatory.
  • 3-5 years in-store retail management experience – mandatory.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve loyalty of retailers in conjunction with regional teams.
  • Manage organic growth for all retailers in the region.
  • Drive group volumes by negotiating attractive deals with preferred suppliers.
  • Manage supply chain and conduct regular meetings with regional and national suppliers.
  • Manage supplier trade agreements in conjunction with central office.
  • Manage all promotional deals and pricing of promotions in the region.
  • Negotiate and achieve budgeted drop shipment and retail gross profits.
  • Grow the category in line with regional and national sales growth.
  • Offer leadership and advice to retailers on category-related issues.
  • Address all retailer queries regarding supplier issues and communicate effectively with all affected parties.

Remuneration :

R40 000 to R45 000 basic + car allowance + medical aid.

Annual incentive (not guaranteed and dependent on performance).
