Curro seeks a CAT Teacher (FET Phase) at Meridian Rustenburg to commence duties in January 2027. The role involves teaching and coordinating a range of subjects as per the Curro curriculum for the FET phase, with emphasis on knowledge transfer and learner development.

The successful candidate will have a BEd and/or PGCE in FET phase education, 5+ years of FET teaching experience, and familiarity with CAPS. Flexibility for extended hours and weekends is expected.

Qualifications

• BEd degree and/or PGCE in FET phase education, with an honours degree in education (advantageous).
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as an FET phase teacher.

Responsabilités

• Teach and coordinate a range of subjects per Curro curriculum for the FET phase.
• Plan lessons using modern-day tools and processes; set up workbooks; measure academic progress.
• Set up, implement and adjust term plans; differentiate learning materials for barriers to learning.
• Create baseline assessments; advise subject choices and remedial support based on outcomes.
• Plan and manage the classroom, including assessment rosters, design and setup; communicate with learners and parents.
• Set up and manage formal and continuous assessments and homework; include moderation and revision.
• Plan and manage extramural activities and outings; provide one-on-one tutoring and extra lessons.

Curro is seeking to appoint a high school FET phase teacher at Meridian Rustenburg in Rustenburg. The role involves teaching and coordinating a range of subjects as per the Curro curriculum for the FET phase. The teacher is responsible for the active teaching, knowledge transfer, skills development and growth of positive attitudes among learners through integrated and focused teaching approaches.

Key performance areas

• Perform teaching duties, including planning lessons using modern-day tools and processes, setting up workbooks and measuring academic improvement and achievement
• Set up, implement, monitor and adjust the term plan as necessary, considering exams, assessments and school activities as well as the need for differentiated learning materials to accommodate barriers to learning
• Create baseline assessments to assess knowledge levels and based on the assessment outcomes, make recommendations for subject choices/combinations, teaching methods and remedial work/catch-up programmes
• Plan and manage the classroom, including the assessment roster, classroom design and set-up for optimal performance, disciplinary rules and communication with learners and parents
• Set up and manage assessments (formal and continuous) and homework, including moderation, revision and supervision
• Plan and manage extramural activities and outings
• Provide one-on-one tutoring support and extra lessons

Qualifications, experience and skills

• BEd degree and/or PGCE in FET phase education, with an honours degree in education (in the relevant subject/s) advantageous
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as an FET phase teacher
• Knowledge of the CAPS curriculum
• Proven facilitation, problem-solving and report-writing skills
• Excellent communication, organisational and planning skills
• Willing and able to work extended hours and weekends
