Purpose of the role:

1. Support customer service at the point of sale while ensuring a world-class shopping experience.
2. Record customer transactions on the Dis-Chem operating system according to company policies & standard operating procedures, with zero tolerance toward inaccuracies & elimination of fraud risk.
3. Grade 12 / Matric qualification.
4. A minimum of 6 months’ experience in cashier / till operations.
5. Sound numerical skills.
6. Strong command of the English language.
7. Basic customer service skills.
8. Willing and able to work retail hours.

Job Description:

1. Adhere to Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and procedures.
2. Establish a professional relationship with customers.
3. Report customer complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management.
4. Adhere to the customer turnover hourly rate.
5. Be aware of current sales and promotions.
6. Ensure colleagues and customers are not exposed to any risk.
7. Carry out and manage Dis-Chem 5-star communication principles.
8. Be responsible for cash flow management.
9. Ensure all line voids and price changes are approved and signed off by the supervisor.
10. Exchange merchandise for customers and accept returned goods when authorized.
11. Transact all purchases, including receiving and processing payments (cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons, etc.).
12. Process all loyalty cards, including those of our accelerator partners (Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards, and eBucks).
13. Ensure cash is placed in the drop safe according to Dis-Chem’s SOPs.
14. Maintain the security of your code and password, ensuring they are only used by you, kept safe, and changed regularly.
15. Ensure all outgoing stock/items/scripts are scanned and paid for.
16. Keep all money safely and securely inside the till.
17. Handle daily takings confidentially, discussing only with management.
18. Be alert, recognize, and report suspicious behavior to management.
19. Adhere to Dis-Chem’s security policies and procedures.
