About the job: Cashier (External Applications Only)

Accurate handling of all Point of Sale (POS) transactions and documentation, thereby ensuring Customer satisfaction. Ensure that no goods or stock pass through the Point of Sale (POS) without being paid for.

Requirements

• Grade 12 or minimum of 1 (one) year work-related experience
• Ability to communicate in English and the dominant language spoken in the geographical area where the position is available
• Ability to perform basic calculations accurately
• Strong administration skills
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and Public Holidays
• Ability to work under pressure

Key Performance Areas

Cash Handling

• Ensure all cash (including floats and petty cash) allocated to you balances (no shorts and overs)
• Correctly identify and capture goods on the POS terminal
• Capture the correct payment type received from customers
• Maintain sufficient change at all times
• Accurately perform pick-ups within set parameters
• Ensure accurate cash-ups at the end of your shift
• Drop all daily takings into the Drop Safe/vault
• Process transactions related to other store's money, deliveries, and quotes correctly

Administration

• Sign, compile, and file all documentation related to cashier functions

Customer Service

• Provide fast, friendly, and efficient service to customers at checkout
• Direct customers to relevant personnel for assistance
• Comply with the company's dress code

Safety (OHSA) Requirements

• Ensure safety compliance within your area of responsibility
• Report discrepancies to the Store Manager

Security Awareness

• Adhere to security protocols, including system password controls
• Ensure cash is safely kept and transported to the cash office as per the Cashbuild Way
