About the job: Cashier (External Applications Only)

Accurately handle all Point of Sale (POS) transactions and documentation to ensure customer satisfaction. Ensure that no goods or stock pass through the POS without payment.

Requirements

• Grade 12 or a minimum of 1 year of work-related experience
• Ability to communicate in English and the dominant language spoken in the geographical area where the position is available
• Ability to perform basic calculations accurately
• Strong administration skills
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
• Ability to work under pressure

Key Performance Areas

Cash Handling

• Ensure all cash (including floats and petty cash) allocated to you balances (no shorts or overs)
• Correctly identify and capture goods on the POS terminal
• Capture the correct payment type received from customers
• Maintain sufficient change at all times
• Accurately perform pick-ups within set parameters
• Complete cash-ups accurately at the end of each shift
• Drop all daily takings into the drop safe/vault
• Process transactions related to other store's money, deliveries, and quotes correctly

Administration

• Sign, compile, and file all documentation related to the cashier function

Ready for Business

Adhere to 'Ready for Business' and 'Beyond my Control' protocols as per the CB Way

Customer Service

• Provide fast, friendly, and efficient service to all customers during check-in and check-out
• Direct customers to relevant personnel for assistance
• Comply with the company's dress code

Safety (OHSA) Requirements

• Ensure safety compliance within your area of responsibility (e.g., customer and staff safety)
• Report discrepancies to the Store Manager

Security Awareness

• Adhere to security protocols, including system password control at the till
• Ensure secure cash safekeeping and transport to the cash office as per the Cashbuild Way
