Job summary

Edgray Distributors (Pty) Ltd t/a JUMBO is seeking a detail‑oriented cashier to join its retail team in Port Shepstone. You will operate the POS, process payments, handle returns, and assist customers with queries.

The role requires accuracy under pressure, a professional and friendly manner, and willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• Previous cashier or retail experience is advantageous.
• Good numeracy and basic computer/POS skills.
• Good communication and customer-service skills.
• Honest, reliable and attentive to detail.
• Ability to work accurately under pressure.
• Professional and friendly manner.
• Ability to work shifts, weekends and public holidays where required.

Responsibilities

• Operate the POS system accurately and efficiently.
• Scan and process clothing items, including different sizes, colours, and product variants.
• Receive and process cash, card, and other approved payments.
• Issue receipts and ensure all transactions are accurately recorded.
• Calculate and provide correct change to customers.
• Assist customers with product and pricing enquiries.
• Process authorized returns, refunds, and exchanges in accordance with company policy.
• Apply approved discounts and promotions.
• Maintain accurate cash drawer balances and complete daily cash-ups.
• Report cash shortages, overages, payment issues, or transaction discrepancies to the supervisor.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional checkout area.
• Follow company procedures relating to customer service, cash handling, stock control, and security.
