Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly and professionally at the checkout.

• Provide courteous and efficient service throughout the payment process.

• Respond to customer enquiries and direct customers to the appropriate team member when necessary.

• Handle customer concerns professionally and escalate unresolved issues to management.

• Accurately process cash, debit card, credit card, gift card, voucher, and other approved payment transactions.

• Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system efficiently and accurately.

• Issue receipts and process refunds and exchanges in accordance with company policies.

• Open, balance, and reconcile the cash float at the beginning and end of each shift.

• Ensure all cash shortages or overages are reported immediately.

• Maintain confidentiality and security of cash and financial transactions.

• Promote sales, promotions, and Buy Now Pay Later Apps.

• Encourage add-on sales where appropriate.

• Assist customers with product information and direct them to relevant departments.

• Maintain a clean, organised, and well-stocked checkout area.

• Ensure shopping bags, till rolls, and other checkout supplies are available.

• Assist with merchandising, stock replenishment, and housekeeping during quieter trading periods.

• Support stock-taking activities when required.

• Follow all company cash-handling and loss prevention procedures.

• Verify high-value transactions and suspicious activities in accordance with company policies.

• Report suspected theft, fraud, or security concerns immediately.

• Comply with company policies, health and safety requirements, and operational procedures.

• Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure efficient store operations.

• Assist other departments when operationally required.

• Attend training sessions and team meetings.

• Contribute to a positive and customer-focused working environment.
