Job description

Ach-an-Eas care home is run and managed by NHS Highland. It has the capacity to provide care for a maximum of 17 adults over 65, with 4 intermediate care beds and 2 respite beds. The building was formerly a large, family house, now adapted and extended for its current use. Accommodation is on two floors with lift access. The home is situated in large, pleasant grounds, convenient to the city centre. It is comfortably appointed and well maintained, both indoors and outdoors, with walkways and ramps for wheelchair access. All bedrooms are single occupancy with en-suite facilities. The most recent Care Inspectorate report was good, highlighting staff provide kind and respectful care and develop meaningful relationships with residents.


We are seeking an experienced Care Home Manager for this full-time, permanent position. The successful candidate will provide strong leadership, management, and coaching skills. Excellent communication skills, empathy, team engagement, and the ability to work effectively with families and residents are essential.


Requirements for the Post
  • The minimum qualification requirement is SVQ 4 in Health and Social Care. Registration is also possible for those holding recognized teaching, social work, nursing, or Allied Health Professions (AHP) qualifications, typically at degree level. Possession of SVQ Leadership and Management for Care Services (LMCS) Level 4 or an equivalent management qualification is also required for registration.
  • Proven management experience at a similar level and established leadership skills to manage a large team. Relevant experience as a registered Care Home Manager is desirable.
  • Evidence of teaching and assessing within a care environment.
  • Effective multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
  • Good understanding of IT systems.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current evidence-based practice, CI Standards, and Regulations.
  • The ability to use initiative and make effective decisions to improve care quality.
  • Knowledge of community integrated working and the ability to enhance relationships with primary, secondary, and third-sector partners.
  • A person- and family-centered approach to care.
