Position Summary

The candidate will work in a Covenant Health System Cardiac Diagnostics Department utilizing state-of-the-art technology to assist cardiologists in diagnosing congenital, structural, and disease-process cardiac issues. The candidate will perform procedures to IAC standards and guidelines, including transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress echocardiograms.

Responsibilities
  1. Understand cross-sectional human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology to obtain optimal studies.
  2. Precept and train new employees and students in echocardiography techniques.
  3. Assist with ICAL credentialing and lead performance improvement projects as needed.
  4. Demonstrate knowledge of advanced medical terminology.
  5. Perform and ensure optimal studies, considering clinical history, diagnostic procedures, ultrasound physics, normal anatomy, and variants, including age-specific patient care.
  6. Maintain equipment, supplies, and imaging areas.
  7. Perform advanced ultrasound testing using 2D, 3D, M-mode, spectral Doppler, color flow Doppler, speckle tracking, and other post-processing, including exercise and stress echo exams.
  8. Serve as primary liaison between patients, physicians, and support staff, providing explanations and documentation of procedures.
  9. Produce, recognize, and analyze images for diagnosis, completing preliminary reports with measurements and motion analysis.
  10. Develop and maintain good working relationships within and outside the department, ensuring effective communication and adherence to Covenant Health Mission and Values.
  11. Participate in continuing education, public education, and technical skill enhancement.
  12. Perform and train on correct drug, procedure, and supply charging, stock maintenance, and vendor ordering procedures.
  13. Coordinate daily workflow and patient flow efficiently among staff.
  14. Follow policies, procedures, and safety standards; complete annual education; and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Education: None specified; must meet standards for licensure and/or certification as required.

Minimum Experience: Five years as a Cardiac Sonographer; hospital setting experience preferred. RDCS ARDMS echo tech with experience preferred.

Licensure Requirement: Must have and maintain a CCI, ARRT, or ARDMS Registry. American Heart Association BLS certification prior to hire.
