Placements24 is seeking a Lead Project Manager in Cape Town to oversee large-scale infrastructure initiatives from conception to completion. You will shape city development, lead cross-disciplinary teams, and manage multi-stakeholder engagement to deliver projects on time and within budget.

The role requires 10+ years in infrastructure PM, major budget experience, and strong leadership with knowledge of SA planning and environmental legislation.

Competenze

• Minimum 10 years progressive experience in project management for large infrastructure.
• Experience managing budgets >R100 million.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Master's degree is highly desirable.
• PR.Eng. or PR.CM registration is advantageous.
• Strong negotiation, procurement and claims management experience.
• Knowledge of SA municipal planning, zoning and environmental law.
• Excellent leadership, communication and conflict-resolution skills.
• Proficiency in MS Project, Primavera P6 and CAD software.
• Ability to engage diverse stakeholders including technical and non-technical personnel.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent leader in urban development and infrastructure in Cape Town, Western Cape , is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Project Manager. This pivotal role will be responsible for overseeing large-scale, complex infrastructure projects from conception through to completion. You will play a critical role in shaping the city's future by managing projects that enhance connectivity, sustainability, and public amenities. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership capabilities, a deep understanding of civil engineering principles, and a proven track record in delivering major infrastructure undertakings on time and within budget. Key Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all phases of infrastructure projects, including planning, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.

Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in project management, with a significant focus on large-scale infrastructure development (e.g., transportation, utilities, public works).
• Proven experience managing projects with budgets exceeding R100 million.
• A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related engineering discipline.
• A Master's degree is highly desirable.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) or Professional Construction Manager (Pr. CM) registration is a significant advantage.
• Demonstrated expertise in contract negotiation, procurement processes, and claims management.
• Strong understanding of South African municipal planning, zoning, and environmental legislation.
• Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Proficiency in project management software such as MS Project, Primavera P6, and relevant CAD software.
• Ability to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders, including technical experts and non-technical personnel.
