Job summary

Placements24 client in Cape Town is seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to join the finance team at the main facility. You will optimize production costs, conduct variance analysis, and implement costing systems to improve profitability.

The role requires strong manufacturing costing expertise and ERP proficiency. You will collaborate with production and engineering, support budgets, and ensure data accuracy in cost reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or related field.
• CIMA or equivalent certification is a plus.
• Minimum 4 years of cost accounting experience in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain cost accounting systems and methodologies.
• Analyze manufacturing costs including materials, labor and overhead.
• Conduct variance analysis and explain deviations.
• Prepare cost reports: product costing, inventory valuation, profitability.
• Collaborate with production and engineering to identify cost savings.
• Assist annual budgeting and forecasting for manufacturing.
• Maintain BOM and routing accuracy in ERP.
• Evaluate financial impact of new products and process changes.
• Support internal/external audits related to cost accounting.
• Ensure compliance with costing standards and regulations.
