Job summary

Edge Executive Search Group is seeking a commercially driven General Manager to own the Cape Town operation. You will lead across sales, procurement, logistics, finance, and administration, driving growth and operational excellence in a high-volume food distribution environment.

You will shape strategy, manage budgets and KPIs, and develop a high-performing management team while ensuring food safety and compliance across the operation.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of management experience across operational teams
• 5+ years in a senior leadership or General Management role
• Experience in fresh produce, food distribution, wholesale or related environment
• Strong commercial and financial understanding
• Proven ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams
• Experience managing budgets, KPIs and performance
• Knowledge of food safety, quality and compliance
• Experience handling senior level customer/supplier relationships
• Hands-on in a fast-paced distribution environment
• Willingness to work early starts and night-shift operations

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the Cape Town business strategy in line with company objectives
• Own day-to-day performance of the operation
• Drive revenue growth, profitability and sustainable performance
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities
• Maintain relationships with key customers and suppliers
• Monitor margins, costs and profitability; take corrective action
• Lead cross-functional teams across sales, procurement, logistics, finance
• Ensure sourcing, processing, storage and delivery meet spec
