Job summary

Placements24 in Cape Town is seeking an energetic Sports Development Officer to promote inclusive sports participation and build grassroots programs across local schools, clubs, and communities. You will design initiatives, coordinate events, and collaborate with partners to create sustainable opportunities.

You will manage relationships with stakeholders, identify talent, support pathways, and advocate healthy lifestyles through outreach and conservation of resources.

Qualifications

• Experience in sports development, community coaching, or related field.
• Strong skills in program planning, implementation and evaluation.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management abilities.
• Proficiency in event management and coordinating volunteers.
• Passion for sports and commitment to community engagement and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and evaluate sports development programs targeting various age groups and abilities.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with local sports clubs, schools, community leaders, and stakeholders.
• Identify and support emerging sporting talent through coaching initiatives and pathway development.
• Organise and manage sports events, competitions, and festivals within the Western Cape region.
• Secure funding and resources through grant applications and sponsorship proposals.
• Promote healthy lifestyles and the benefits of sports participation through outreach and marketing activities.
