Job summary

DLK Group in Cape Town seeks a hands-on Developer – Applications & Data to join a local technology team. You will own and improve existing applications, ensure stability, and build new solutions as business needs evolve.

The role emphasizes maintaining live systems, governance, and collaboration with stakeholders. You will work full‑time from the Cape Town office, tackling deployments, data issues, and API integrations as part of a cohesive development effort.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of commercial software development experience.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot).
• Ability to read, understand, audit and improve code written by others.
• Working knowledge of SQL and database governance.
• Deployment and rollback experience with Railway, AWS or Google Cloud Run.
• Experience taking over and extending an existing codebase.
• Third‑party API integration experience.
• Proficient with Git in active repositories.
• Independent worker with strong ownership of problems.
• Comfortable maintaining existing applications over rewriting them.
• Strong communication to non-technical stakeholders.
• Eligible to work in South Africa and based in Cape Town (or willing to relocate).

Responsibilities

• Maintain, support and troubleshoot existing production applications.
• Investigate and resolve application, integration and data issues.
• Build and extend applications based on business requirements.
• Manage deployments, logs, troubleshooting and rollbacks.
• Maintain database and application governance.
• Integrate applications with third‑party systems and APIs.
• Maintain and improve technical documentation.
• Work with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Take ownership of existing applications and improve their reliability.
