Join Our Team: Calibration Technician

Campbell Scientific South Africa is seeking a Calibration Technician to enhance our mission of delivering world-class scientific instrumentation. This role involves testing and calibrating our advanced products and equipment, adhering to rigorous calibration procedures, and maintaining industry-leading standards.

Essential Functions

  • Calibration and Testing: Perform calibration, verification, and testing of sensors and equipment to ensure accuracy.
  • Repairs: Conduct basic equipment repairs.
  • Procedure Development: Create and refine standard operating and calibration procedures.
  • ISO Compliance: Develop and uphold ISO procedures to maintain regulatory adherence.

Required Skills and Competencies

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of measurement systems, including primary and secondary standards.
  • Expertise in metrology principles: accuracy, precision, resolution, and uncertainty.
  • Familiarity with calibration standards like ISO 9001, ISO 17025, ASTM, and NIST.
  • Proficiency in calibration tools, reference instruments, and software.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills with diagnostic tools for resolving instrument malfunctions.

Functional Skills

  • Operate and maintain calibration equipment effectively.
  • Adhere to SOPs for calibration with precision and safety.
  • Document calibration records, create certificates, and log data accurately.
  • Work well both independently and within collaborative team environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Detail-Oriented: High attention to detail for identifying discrepancies and ensuring accurate results.
  • Ability to generate clear, concise calibration reports and certificates for customer and regulatory needs.
