Job description

CA User Data Engineer – Johannesburg - R480 to R580 per hour

POSITION INFO :

A global company focusing on innovation and comprehensive IT solutions such as Development and Operations is seeking a CA User Data Engineer. The role involves gaining deep insights into CA Data Management across central sectors and plants, including restructuring CA data structures according to project and business unit guidelines, and configuring using Autofs (Unix) and DFS (Windows).

Responsibilities :

  1. Consult with users on storing CA data and managing permanent data archives, including report generation.
  2. Assign CA roles to folders (Unix only).
  3. Create and assign ADGR roles to folders (Windows only).
  4. Create CA data structures following established guidelines.
  5. Perform housekeeping, monitoring, and manage NAS using central applications like iStore and DIVA, considering security aspects.
  6. Identify and delete obsolete CA data using the web application CA Cleanup Tool (Unix only).
  7. Allow users to request CA space via the web application CA Space Request (casr) and integrate it into CA Verbund (Unix only).
  8. Enable users to monitor their CA space using Resources Monitoring (resmon) (Windows only).
  9. Provide CA space to applications for testing purposes using web application CA Integrations- und Test Server (ca-its) (Unix only).
  10. Serve as the contact point for data management questions in the cloud.
  11. Act as an interface to the central storage team and discuss CA requirements.

Qualifications and Experience :

  • University degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field focusing on data-intensive applications.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Linux Administration (SLES, RHEL).
  • ITIL certification (advantageous).
  • Any Scrum certification (advantageous).
  • Knowledge of Confluence, Jira, and Bitbucket / GitHub.
  • Redhat RHCSA 7,8,9, SLES CLA 12 / 15, or related IT fields.
  • Proven experience with SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES), Redhat, Windows, and LDAP / AD server administration.
  • Knowledge of Distributed File System (DFS) and Active Directory (AD).
  • Proficient in automation with Ansible Automation Platform.
  • Familiar with codebase management tools such as GitHub / GitHub Actions.
