Job summary

A leading retail group is seeking a Buyers Assistant in Western Cape, Cape Town. Job description

Job Title: Buyers Assistant

Location: Western Cape, Cape Town

Deadline: September 06, 2025

Job Objectives
  • Ensure correct cost is loaded on DC to enable the Planner to order stock.
  • Determine and extrapolate the correct pricing for different units of measure to ensure the correct pack size, cost, and unit sale price are accurately loaded for each supplier vendor number.
  • Quality check cost and sales price loading after Buyers and Planners set up clusters, and immediately correct any errors identified.
  • Accurately capture and load retail prices with attention to detail.
  • Resolve store queries promptly as incidents, such as DC mispicks or supplier barcode irregularities, and manage range adjustments as needed.
  • Assist Checkline with consumer queries related to stock availability and placing orders, including arranging IBTs as required.
  • Maintain timely and accurate loading of newly listed products on SAP Buying, as approved by the Buyer.
  • Inform DC Planner of new products and provide necessary ties and highs from supplier listing forms or master data.
  • Set system flags to range or list products at the store level.
  • Liaise with Replenishers to ensure orders are placed and communicate Buyers’ delivery dates.
  • Timely capture of deranging and markdown activities.
  • De-link items from DC after discontinuation from supplier or if no longer viable for export.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date filing of invoices, costing documents, new article forms, and supplier updates.
  • Generate comprehensive reports for review and action by the Buyer.
  • Monitor and track progress against KPIs, proactively resolving issues or escalating as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Grade 12 certificate (essential)
Experience
  • At least 1 year of experience in a similar administrative role supporting buying or planning processes (essential).
  • Experience in Store Keeping or Procurement roles.
