Job summary

Volkswagen Group Africa in Kariega (Uitenhage) is seeking a self-motivated Buyer to join our Procurement team. You will source components, manage RFQs, quotations and negotiations, drive cost competitiveness, and ensure production continuity while localisation efforts are advanced.

The ideal candidate has a degree or diploma in Purchasing, Logistics, Finance or a related field, with at least 3 years in automotive procurement, strong negotiation skills, and good MS Excel abilities.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Purchasing, Logistics, Commerce, Finance, Business Management or a technical qualification.
• Minimum 3 years purchasing experience in automotive or supplier industry.
• Experience in Production Components and Electrical harness is advantageous.
• Solid negotiation, problem-solving and conflict management skills.
• Strong communication and presentation abilities across levels.
• Good financial analysis, costing, and project management understanding.
• German language proficiency is an added advantage.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a self-motivated and driven Buyer to join our Procurement team. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing and managing components, driving localisation, cost competitiveness, and production continuity. This position is based in the Procurement Division (Kariega)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Source components and manage RFQs, quotations, and negotiations

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications:

• Degree/Diploma in Purchasing, Logistics, Commerce, Finance, Business Management or a technical qualification (Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Quality, Operations or Production Management).

Experience:

• Have a minimum of 3 years purchasing experience in the automotive or supplier industry.
• Strong experience in Production Components, Electrical harness experience and technical data knowledge would be added advantage
• Solid negotiation, problem-solving, and conflict management skills
• Effective communication and presentation abilities across all levels
• Advanced computer literacy, especially MS Excel
• Good understanding of financial analysis, costing, and business/project management
• German language proficiency is an added advantage
