About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Buyer to join a Global Chemical Manufacturing company. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the procurement function at the Johannesburg site, ensuring uninterrupted production and supporting the optimal performance of all operations.

Key responsibilities include the strategic sourcing of raw materials to achieve a balanced cost advantage.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Ensure raw materials and packaging are purchased on time and in full (OTIF) to meet production requirements for Joburg site.
  • Negotiate prices for both local and imported raw materials and packaging.
  • Monitor, control, and minimize inbound raw material and packaging costs.
  • Process import orders for raw materials required at the Johannesburg site.
  • Manage raw material and packaging stock levels to ensure working capital remains within business-defined limits.
  • Maximize cost advantages by leveraging the company Global’s purchasing power.
  • Continuously explore alternative raw materials, packaging, stock substitutes, and suppliers.
  • Secure supplier contracts and agreements, ensuring alignment with business needs.
  • Negotiate and improve payment terms with suppliers.
  • Establish and maintain a list of preferred and alternate suppliers, including pricing structures.
  • Conduct regular supplier evaluations and audits, documenting findings and implementing necessary actions.
  • Verify supplier invoice accuracy against goods received notes (GRNs).
  • Generate procurement and stock-related reports as required.
  • Take full responsibility for coordinating and managing site-wide stock takes, including those outside normal working hours.

What You’ll Need

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a purchasing or production environment
  • Diploma in Procurement, Inventory Control, or a related field

  • Proficient in English (mandatory)
