Key Performance Areas

  1. Examine, select, order and purchase materials and services required at a favourable price consistent with quality and specified requirements.
  2. Issue requests for quotations on materials and services required.
  3. Place orders and allocate the commitment to the correct costing structure.
  4. Ensure placements of orders and purchase of materials is conducted as per the Company Policy and Procedure.
  5. Identify and develop BBBEE suppliers.
  6. Identify potential markets and suppliers for goods and services required.
  7. Negotiate payment terms and conditions of purchase.
  8. Evaluate the commercial aspects of tenders.
  9. Develop and maintain key internal relationships with the Proposals, Marketing, Sales, Projects, Financial/Commercial and Resources departments.
  10. Establish supply/frame agreements.
  11. Manage Suppliers against Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  12. Identify new Suppliers and alternative products.
  13. Any other job-related duties as required from time to time.

Preferred Requirements

  1. Grade 12/N3.
  2. Relevant Diploma in purchasing or commercial or a technical qualification.
  3. 3 Years’ related purchasing experience, preferably within a maintenance or manufacturing environment.
  4. Knowledge of SAP, ERP systems.
  5. Knowledge of Vendor processes.
  6. Knowledge of relevant purchasing and sourcing concepts.
  7. Computer literate (MS Office, SAP and ERP systems).
