Job description

My client is looking for an experienced Buyer to join their team around Linbro Park, Johannesburg.

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field - optional
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in procurement, planning, or supply chain management
  • Proven negotiation and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office
  • Previous experience in the construction / building material / aluminium will be an advantage

Duties will include:

  • Procurement:
    • Source and purchase goods and materials from suppliers local and international
    • Negotiate prices, terms, and delivery schedules
    • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Inventory Management:
    • Manage inventory levels to meet customer demand
    • Optimize stock levels to minimize excess inventory
    • Ensure accurate inventory records and reporting
  • Production Planning:
    • Plan and schedule production / purchasing to meet customer demand
    • Coordinate with production teams and branch managers to ensure timely delivery
    • Identify and mitigate production risks
  • Supply Chain Management:
    • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers
    • Monitor supplier performance and address issues
    • Identify opportunities for supply chain optimization
  • Data Analysis:
    • Analyze sales data, inventory levels, and production schedules
    • Identify trends and opportunities for improvement
    • Develop reports and present findings to management
  • Cost Control:
    • Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers
    • Identify opportunities for cost savings
    • Implement cost-saving initiatives
  • Quality Control:
    • Ensure purchased goods meet quality standards
    • Address quality issues with suppliers
  • Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
    • Adhere to relevant laws and regulations
