Job summary

A leading automobile manufacturer in South Africa is seeking a Procurement Specialist to manage purchasing operations efficiently. This role involves assessing requests, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely payments to suppliers. The ideal candidate will have a background in supply chain management and at least 2-3 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

  • Minimum National Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Procurement.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in the buying process.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment desirable.

Job description

Job Responsibilities Receive and assess RFQ requests to determine the nature of the request.

Purchase goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified costs, quality, and delivery targets.

Prepare and edit specifications, TOR, scope of work, and compile RFQ documents.

Support the purchasing function and other relevant departments, communicating any supply issues that may impact business operations.

Guide business units on procurement processes.

Coordinate site visits.

Prepare reports and updates as required.

Prepare and raise purchase orders and order schedules.

Issue Purchase Orders.

Manage the filing, storage, and security of all completed files.

Participate in procurement evaluation for received quotes.

Maintain records of all requests that are completed or canceled due to duplication.

Ensure suppliers are paid within the required period from receipt of PO and signed invoice.

Negotiate contracts, improve prices, and terms of business, utilizing negotiation and procurement best practices.

Collaborate with others in procurement and review opportunities for continuous improvement.

Provide support to stakeholders to achieve team objectives.

Respond to audit queries.

Monitor and advise on risks or opportunities to the organization.

Requirements Minimum National Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, or related field.

Minimum 2-3 years of experience in buying process administration.

Experience in a commercial or manufacturing environment.

Experience working closely with suppliers.

Code 8 driver's license.
