Procurement Officer Job Description
We are seeking a Procurement Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Assisting in selecting appropriate suppliers to promote good procurement practices.
- Establishing departmental procurement needs, quality, and delivery requirements.
- Placing orders, noting timing, supply/demand alignment, material replenishments, and supplier performance.
- Monitoring, evaluating, and improving supplier performance continuously.
- Controlling and monitoring expenses against approved budgets.
- Implementing cost-saving measures and budgeting strategies.
- Negotiating payment terms with suppliers.
- Maintaining purchasing requirements within the company.
- Reviewing and updating inventory as needed.
- Receiving and processing orders from various departments.
- Initiating and tracking orders.
- Receiving, inspecting, and distributing orders.
- Reconciling or resolving order discrepancies with suppliers.
- Monitoring delivery times to ensure punctuality.
- Maintaining good supplier relationships and renegotiating prices regularly.
- Coordinating bulk orders.
- Maintaining daily records and updating asset registers.
- Conducting annual asset stock takes.
- Making policy analysis and recommendations.
- Preparing monthly and weekly cost and expense projections.
- Performing weekly PPE stock taking on paint and material control sheets.
- Raising COD payment requisitions for specific suppliers.
- Managing site petty cash and administering staff expense claims.

Minimum Qualifications
- Matric
- Qualification in Quality Control or related field
Experience
- At least 5 years’ experience in Procurement
- Experience in the Petrochem Industry
