Job summary

DC Meat in Wes-Kaap, South Africa, seeks an experienced butchery operations lead to run daily activities and performance. You will direct a 15–20 person team, manage stock, monitor GP, and ensure precise cash handling and banking.

You will also operate the POS system, liaise with CIT providers, and uphold hygiene, presentation, and customer service standards in a busy retail environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in a butchery environment.
• Strong knowledge of beef, pork, and chicken.
• Experience managing a team in a retail butchery environment.
• Experience with cash-ups, floats, banking, and CIT procedures.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel.
• Strong organisational and stock-control skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the butchery.
• Lead and manage a team of approximately 15–20 employees.
• Manage stock levels, place orders, and monitor stock control.
• Calculate and monitor Gross Profit (GP).
• Perform daily cash-ups, banking, and float management.
• Open and close the butchery.
• Operate and manage the Point-of-Sale (POS) system.
• Liaise and work with Cash-in-Transit (CIT) companies.
• Ensure all operational and financial procedures are followed.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene, presentation, and customer service.
