A well-established butchery and grocery retailer in Tanzania is seeking an experienced Butcher to join their team. The company specializes in providing high-quality meats and grocery products to the local community, focusing on both retail and wholesale meat supply. They are committed to maintaining the highest standards of quality, hygiene, and customer satisfaction.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Valid Passport
  2. Extensive experience working as a butcher
  3. Experience handling wholesale meat and managing bulk meat orders
  4. Previous experience working in a mini supermarket or similar retail setting
  5. Strong knowledge of meat cuts, preparation techniques, and storage requirements
  6. Ability to operate meat processing equipment safely and efficiently
  7. Understanding of food safety regulations and hygiene standards
  8. Proven experience in managing a team/staff, including delegation of tasks and staff supervision
  9. Basic knowledge of stock management and inventory control
  10. Good customer service and communication skills
  11. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Cutting, preparing, grinding, and packaging various types of meats
  2. Ensuring all meat products are stored, displayed, and sold in compliance with health and safety standards
  3. Operating butchery equipment and ensuring all tools are cleaned and maintained properly
  4. Assisting with inventory control and managing stock levels efficiently
  5. Weighing, packaging, labeling, and pricing products for sale
  6. Conducting quality checks on meat products and ensuring freshness
  7. Handling customer inquiries, providing recommendations, and assisting with special orders
  8. Maintaining cleanliness and organization in the butchery section
  9. Assisting with supplier orders and deliveries when necessary
  10. Supervising and managing butchery staff, ensuring efficient workflow and task delegation
  11. Training and mentoring junior staff on proper meat handling and butchery techniques
  12. Adhering to health and safety protocols to prevent contamination and ensure workplace safety
