About the job Business Intelligence Developer

Job Title: Business Intelligence (BI) Developer

Location: Parktown, Johannesburg

Reporting To: Head of BI

Main Purpose of Job

The BI Developer is responsible for end-to-end BI development, support, monitoring, analysis, and maintenance within the BI and Data Warehouse environments. They also assist the BI team with day-to-day operations and ad hoc tasks as required.

Key Performance Areas

1. Develop and maintain business intelligence solutions using Microsoft SQL Server, Power BI, and other relevant BI tools.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and implement effective BI solutions.
3. Provide support for existing BI solutions, troubleshoot issues, and ensure data accuracy and integrity.
4. Design and optimize SQL queries, views, and stored procedures for data extraction, transformation, and loading.
5. Create and maintain documentation related to BI processes, data models, and reports.
6. Participate in the full software development lifecycle including analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• MS BI certification is advantageous.

Experience

• Minimum 2 years proven experience as a Business Intelligence Developer focusing on Microsoft SQL Server and Power BI.
• Experience with data modeling and designing scalable data warehouses.
• Knowledge of BI development best practices and data visualization.
• Understanding of data warehousing concepts and methodologies.

Skills and Competencies

• Experience with ETL processes and tools.
• Strong SQL skills, including complex queries, views, and stored procedures.
• Familiarity with BI tools like Power BI or similar.
• PHP & MySQL knowledge is advantageous.
• Experience with cloud technologies.
