Job description

Position : Business Division General Manager

Our client is looking for an experienced, self-motivated and target driven Business Division General Manager for their blueberry farm in the Stellenbosch area.

Company Overview :

An Agricultural business which builds, maintains and grows world class primary production operations which produce and pack high value exportable produce. Their core values revolve around Relationships, Stewardship, Excellence, and Integrity.

Responsibilities :

• Lead and manage all aspects of the business division, ensuring operational excellence, including management and adherence to quality standards.
• Provide sound leadership to achieve quality product output, accuracy, and consistency in all processes.
• Develop and implement best practices, policies, and principles to optimize operational efficiency.
• Recruit, develop, and train a competent team to support packhouse operations, including logistics management.
• Ensure high standards of health and safety practices within the facility.
• Ensure compliance with industry quality assurance standards and meet specifications required by local and export customers.
• Procure packaging materials according to customer specifications.
• Facilitate the implementation and optimization of information systems.
• Optimize packhouse equipment and technologies for maximum productivity.
• Provide regular reports to producers and the group management team and liaise with exporters on packing requirements.
• Develop, manage, and oversee the division's budget, ensuring cost-effective operations and efficient cash flow management.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, addressing their needs and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of export programs, ensuring compliance with international standards and regulations

Requirements :

• Tertiary qualification, degree in logistics, BCom degree business management, Food Science, or related fields.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in managing perishable packhouse operations and / or warehousing or coldstore facilities.
• Excellent management and leadership skills with a proven track record of achieving targets.
• Proficient IT skills, including experience with information systems relevant to packhouse operations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively at all levels.
• Strong numerical and planning abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure.
• Experience with quality systems such as HACCP, BRC, ISO, or similar standards.
• Willingness to work overtime and weekends as required by operational needs.

Starting date : As soon as possible.

Salary : R65k – R70k per month CTC depending on experience.
