Job description

A reputable Heavy metal manufacturing company in the East of Johannesburg is looking to employ a Business Development / Sales (Capital) Engineer.

Duties & Responsibilities

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: Help identify and pursue new business opportunities that align with the company's goals and objectives. Apply their technical knowledge and understanding of the engineering industry to identify potential clients and projects, and to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.

Support the Business Development Manager in administrative tasks, such as managing databases, handling customer complaints and inquiries, coordinating the business development team's activities, and providing general engineering & administrative support to the department. Monitor and report on key performance indicators and make recommendations to improve aftersales processes.

Assist the Business Development Manager with the development and implementation of strategies to improve the company's sales intake and enhance client satisfaction. Work closely with other departments, such as projects after sales, and engineering, to identify client needs and develop solutions that meet those needs.

Coordinate a team of sales administrators, providing guidance and training to team members, and overseeing the processing of warranty claims and returns. Analyse client data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement, as well as developing and maintaining positive relationships with key clients.

Minimum Entry-Level Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Three or more years' experience in aftersales or customer services and/or sales experience in an OEM engineering and fabrication environment.

Master's degree in Engineering or Business Administration is an added advantage.

  6. Relationship building skills: Able to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and internal stakeholders.
  7. Industry knowledge: Understanding of the industry in which the company operates, including regulatory and compliance issues, market trends, and emerging technologies.
  8. Business acumen: An understanding of business principles such as finance, marketing, and sales.
  9. Analytical skills: Able to analyse market trends, industry data, and financial metrics.
