Job description

Business Development Manager

A national logistics and transportation company is looking for a Business Development Manager to join their team.

The company is based in the Eastern Cape and is open to candidates from Johannesburg and surrounds.

The position will be remote if the selected candidate is not based in the Eastern Cape.

Requirements:
  1. Tertiary qualification in Logistics, Marketing, or Business Administration would be advantageous.
  2. Strong logistics / business transportation experience.
  3. Knowledge of the local trading market.
  4. Confident and self-driven.
  5. Driver's License.
  6. Fluent verbal and written communication in both English and Afrikaans.
  7. Team player.
Responsibilities:
  1. Follow up with existing customers to solidify mutual expectations of performance and growth.
  2. Maintain and update client record information.
  3. Acquire new business while maintaining the existing client base.
  4. Keep up with industry trends and new developments.
  5. Conduct introductory calls with new prospects.
  6. Plan approaches and pitches.
  7. Work with staff and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs.
  8. Forecast sales targets and ensure they are met by the team.
  9. Present business development training and mentoring to business developers and other internal staff.
  10. Research and develop a thorough understanding of the company's people and capabilities.
