Position: Business Development Manager Africa Trade Specialist

About the Role:

We seek a high-performing Business Development Manager to drive growth and expand our presence across African markets. The ideal candidate will have proactive sales leadership, strong B2B sales experience, key account management skills, and international trade expertise. Responsibilities include lead generation, market development, building long-term customer relationships, and achieving sales and revenue targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Sales & Business Development:
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to boost export sales across Africa.
  • Generate leads, identify new opportunities, and grow the customer base.
  • Manage relationships with distributors, wholesalers, and key accounts.
  • Meet and exceed sales targets for continuous growth.
  • Conduct market research on industry trends, competitors, and customer needs.
  • Key Account & Customer Relationship Management:
    • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key clients.
    • Understand and fulfill customer requirements with tailored solutions.
    • Identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities.
    • Serve as the main contact between clients and internal teams.
  • Export Operations & Compliance:
    • Oversee export logistics, shipping, and documentation.
    • Ensure compliance with trade regulations, customs, and export laws.
    • Manage pricing, payment terms, and trade agreements.
    • Address customer complaints and export challenges.
  • Leadership & Reporting:
    • Provide sales reports, forecasts, and market insights to management.
    • Collaborate with marketing, supply chain, and finance teams.
    • Represent the company at trade shows and networking events.

    Requirements:

    • Relevant experience in Sales, Business Development, or International Trade; degree optional.
    • 5+ years in export sales, B2B sales, or international trade, especially in African markets.
    • Proven success in lead generation and deal closing.
    • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship skills.
    • Experience in key account management and business expansion.
    • Knowledge of export documentation, logistics, and customs regulations.
    • Ability to work independently, travel within Africa, and drive growth.
    • Fluent in English; knowledge of French or Portuguese is a plus.
