Business Development Consultant

Location: Johannesburg, Cresta

Contract: Part-time (3 mornings a week)

Job overview

The role of the Business Development Consultant is to penetrate new business account opportunities in defined target markets, mainly within the Africa region.

Via outbound prospecting you will introduce the services of Helion Market Research to senior executives within the targeted company.

This sales role will take a “campaign approach” to targeting companies using a variety of mediums to make initial contact and then qualify and secure meetings.

You will report directly into the responsible Director and will work closely with the business development and project teams in Antwerp and Johannesburg, to achieve our growth targets, and make a significant contribution to our continued rapid expansion.

Responsibilities

  • Identify targeted industry segments & target accounts per segment.
  • Work with Directors to develop sales strategy and message for new business (sales.)
  • Work with the business development and project teams to identify new opportunities with existing and new clients and sectors.
  • Make customer calls to introduce the services of Helion Market Research.
  • Conduct high level discussions with Senior Executives in target and prospect accounts.
  • Set-up meetings with potential clients. Ensure follow-up and communication with identified prospects.
  • Maintain and update the prospect database and sales plan with complete contact information.
  • Participate in periodic sales performance reviews both individual and company-wide.
  • Achieve annual targets.

Requirements

Your skills and experience include

A tertiary qualification. Sales/ marketing background preferably in B2B service environment.

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Passion for sales.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to professionally communicate and interact with both internal team members and external clients on an ongoing basis
  • Impeccable e-mail etiquette
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise and execute tasks to meet deadlines as specified
  • Flexible and agile with the ability to work on multiple concurrent clients and projects
  • Very good knowledge (spoken and written) of English.
