A well-established, innovation-focused player in the industrial gases and chemicals sector is seeking a Business Development Manager to lead growth initiatives aligned with its long-term strategic vision. This is a senior-level opportunity suited for a commercially astute leader who thrives on product- and industry-level analysis, market strategy, and integrated execution.

In this role, you will be responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities through detailed industry and product-level analysis, crafting commercially sound business cases, and leading the execution of approved growth initiatives from inception through to full integration.

You’ll manage complex, long-cycle B2B sales that often include both product and capital investment components, while collaborating closely with technical and finance teams. Autonomy, strategic thinking, and the ability to operate effectively in a flat, agile organisation are essential to succeed in this role.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 6–8+ years’ management experience within gases, chemicals, or a related B2B industrial environment.
  • Track record of delivering strategic growth through market intelligence, commercial negotiations, and capital project execution.
  • Strong financial acumen, with the ability to build and defend robust business cases.
  • Excellent stakeholder management — able to influence at executive and Board level.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Commerce, or Business; an MBA or postgraduate commercial qualification is advantageous.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute a 3-year business development strategy aligned with executive growth goals.
  • Conduct in-depth product and market analysis to identify and validate new opportunities across the gas landscape.
  • Lead feasibility studies, financial modelling, and development of Board-ready business cases.
  • Drive the commercialisation of approved projects, from capital investment to customer integration and operational handover.
  • Identify acquisition targets, manage relationships, conduct due diligence, and ensure smooth post-acquisition integration.
  • Support other business units in cross-functional growth initiatives, including CO₂, ammonia, and speciality gases.
