Role Purpose/Business Unit:
The Business Development Manager, Vodacom Business Africa (VBA), role is based within the Sales function of VBA.
The role of the Business Development Manager is to strategically position VBA as a preferred and dominant wholesale fixed provider in Africa.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Develop growth strategies and plans to attract new customers/partners, negotiate with internal stakeholders and external partners, and follow industry trends locally and internationally.
- Report on successes and areas needing improvement.
- Leverage relationships with product management to define and drive focus propositions to develop incremental business opportunities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Perform as a “hunter” to onboard new customers across the African continent, while managing and growing existing customer base.
- Responsible for sales plan delivery against targets within the defined customer base/industry vertical.
- Present Vodafone/Vodacom solutions, negotiate, and close deals.
- Contribute to annual business planning and reviews.
- Coordinate with Regional, Global, and National Account Managers to develop and execute sales strategies.
- Develop and implement a business development strategy for IOT/Microsoft/Cloud products within the target industry vertical.
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
- Matric qualification is essential.
- Diploma/BCom/BSc degree or equivalent.
- At least 5 years of ICT experience in fixed business solutions.
- Successful B2B sales experience in large, complex environments (e.g., MICROSOFT, telecoms, IT).
- 4-8 years’ experience with Linux/Unix systems, preferably in Cloud/hypervisor/VM environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience with VAS Messaging platforms is beneficial.
- GSM experience is a major advantage.
Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:
- Proven success in ICT B2B sales.
- Strong strategic and tactical skills for market structuring and establishment.
- Understanding of IOT/Microsoft/Cloud value chains and their impact on business models.
- Ability to engage at C-level.
- Skill in translating ICT principles into business value.
- Deep industry vertical knowledge and understanding of business drivers and challenges.
