Job description

A medium sized paint retailer with stores in Gauteng and North West Provinces is seeking a Business Development Manager with an operational focus to assist in growing market share and improving overall performance in three / four corporate stores.

POSITION INFO : Requirements :

  • Minimum of 10 years retail experience with 3 years managerial experience
  • Experience in assisting struggling stores / franchises is a strong recommendation
  • Due the nature of the role the vast majority of time will be spent in the field
  • Must be prepared to travel in the greater Gauteng / North West Provinces and should be based in the north of Johannesburg to limit travel time

Responsibilities :

  • Building professional relationships with current managers or future store owners
  • Understanding the markets, customers and competitive environment of the stores allocated to the successful candidate
  • Compiling business plans in conjunction with store managers / owners, including budgets, strategies to grow profitable market share through the implementation of the appropriate targeted marketing and advertising methods and tools
  • Operational planning pertaining to store staff and in-store standards etc.
  • Utilising in-house resources (e.g. technical for product development) and outsourced marketing partners
  • Identifying opportunities and plans for store owners to improve their businesses and facilitating the implementation of such plans
