Job description

**Talhado Fishing Enterprises**, South Africa’s leading producer and exporter of squid, is looking for a results-driven **Business Development Manager** to drive the growth of our squid division. This is a unique opportunity to work with a reputable name in the fishing industry and expand our presence in global seafood markets.

### Key Responsibilities

- Develop and implement strategies to increase squid sales both locally and internationally.

- Identify and secure new export markets.

- Research and analyze market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments.

- Set sales forecasts and revenue objectives that align with company goals.

- Source and qualify leads, and assess potential partnerships and expansion opportunities.

- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate sales performance.

- Provide regular reports and insights to senior management regarding the sales pipeline and growth.

- Facilitate internal knowledge-sharing and contribute to cross-functional initiatives.

- Build and maintain strong relationships with buyers, importers, and distributors.

- Draft, review, and manage commercial agreements.

- Collaborate with catch operations and processing teams to meet demand and client requirements.

- Ensure compliance with all export, food safety, and fishing regulations.

- Monitor market trends, pricing strategies, and global demand for squid.

### What We’re Looking For

- 5+ years of experiencein business development, export sales, or the seafood trade.

- Strong knowledge of the squid industry and fishing operations.

- Experience with the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF), National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications (NRCS), and international export compliance.

- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.

- Willingness to travel and represent Talhado Fishing Enterprises at trade events and client meetings.

- Ability to lead initiatives, work independently, and collaborate effectively across departments.

- Visionary mindset with the ability to translate goals into executable action plans.

- Relevant qualification in Business, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.
