Our client, a specialist in Logistics, provides Airfreight Solutions (Export and Import), Seafreight Solutions, Road Freight, Customs, and value-added services.

Role: Business Development

Location: Cape Town

Qualification:

  • Grade 12
  • Tertiary Freight qualification is advantageous.
  • Shipshape or similar knowledge
  • Several years industry experience in supply chain, warehousing, management, and operations
  • Leadership role
  • Must have a clear criminal record.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acquisition of new business with a minimum target of twice basic salary.
  • Commission structure will be based on agency/documentation freight transport recoveries.
  • Commission will apply with a minimum target achieved and payable at a rate of 15% for the first year, 10% for the second year, and 5% for the third year and ongoing.
  • Required to have a minimum of 10 ongoing target accounts.
  • Regular client calls on a rotational basis.
  • Attend events such as exhibitions and conferences.
  • Identify areas where customers need support and/or attend to complaints, including the collection of overdue accounts.
  • Focus on re-securing lost business and stabilizing and retaining threatened loss of business.
  • Manage your sales pipeline and submit a weekly report every Friday.
  • Ensure monthly collation of sales reports.
  • Monitor competitor activity and trends.
  • Assist with estimates and update the estimate register where the need arises. Follow up on the outcome of the estimates.
  • Familiarize yourself with digital/social media and marketing strategies.
  • Educate your clients on Shipshape Syntrac (internal software) by selling the advantages of our systems.
  • Communicate the benefits of our AEO status.
  • Implement your activities on the CRM Shipshape.
  • Build good working relationships with operational staff and the sales team.
  • Manage and arrange customer workshops if and when required.
  • Assist with debtors.
  • Any other duties associated with this position.
  • Assist with promotions and golf days.
