Job description

Our client, a specialist in Logistics, provides Airfreight Solutions (Export and Import), Seafreight Solutions, Road Freight, Customs, and value-added services.

Role : Business Development

Location : Cape Town

Qualifications :

  • Grade 12
  • Tertiary Freight qualification is advantageous
  • Shipshape or similar knowledge
  • Several years industry experience in supply chain, warehousing, management, operations
  • Leadership role experience
  • Must have a clear criminal record

Key Responsibilities :

  • Acquire new business with a minimum target twice the basic salary
  • Implement a commission structure based on agency/documentation freight transport recoveries
  • Commission will be 15% in the first year, 10% in the second year, and 5% thereafter
  • Maintain a minimum of 10 ongoing target accounts
  • Conduct regular client calls on a rotational basis
  • Attend events such as exhibitions and conferences
  • Identify customer support needs and address complaints, including overdue accounts collection
  • Focus on re-securing lost business and retaining threatened accounts
  • Manage sales pipeline and submit weekly reports every Friday
  • Ensure monthly sales report collation
  • Monitor competitor activity and trends
  • Assist with estimates and update the estimate register; follow up on outcomes
  • Educate clients on Shipshape Syntrac (internal software) and its advantages, including AEO status benefits
  • Implement activities on the CRM Shipshape
  • Build strong relationships with operational staff and sales team
  • Manage and organize customer workshops as needed
  • Assist with debtors management
  • Support promotions and golf days
