Business Development Executive
The Business Development Executive is responsible for driving business growth by building and acquiring new customers for the Oceanfreight product in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa.
Responsibilities
- Business Development: Identify and prospect potential clients in South Africa for oceanfreight through market research, industry events, personal networks, and sales techniques to generate leads and new business opportunities.
- Pipeline Management: Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline by engaging potential clients within Johannesburg.
- Sales Presentations and Proposals: Prepare and deliver tailored sales presentations, proposals, and quotations to prospective clients, highlighting DB Schenker's services and competitive advantages. Negotiate pricing and contractual terms to secure new business.
- New Business Implementation: Document SOPs with customers to ensure effective onboarding and implementation across DB Schenker services.
- Collaboration with Internal Teams: Work closely with operations, pricing, and customer service teams to ensure seamless service delivery and develop tailored logistics solutions. Provide clients with shipment updates and timelines.
- Market Analysis and Reporting: Monitor industry trends, competitors, and market developments. Provide insights and generate reports on sales activities, pipeline, and forecasts.
- Customer Relationship Management (CRM): Use CRM systems to manage client data, track interactions, and generate reports, ensuring accurate and timely data entry.
- Sales Targets and Performance: Achieve and exceed sales targets. Regularly review performance, identify improvement areas, and implement strategies for growth.
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry best practices, logistics trends, and DB Schenker's offerings through training and development opportunities.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric certificate essential.
- Minimum 3 years of sales experience in oceanfreight.
- Proven track record in business development within a multinational logistics company.
- Relevant Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree or equivalent preferred.
- High flexibility and willingness to travel.
- Excellent interpersonal, cultural sensitivity, and communication skills.
- Ability to lead virtual teams to drive business success.
- Strong business acumen and result-oriented approach.
