Job Title: Business Development Executive (Airfreight)

The Business Development Executive is responsible for driving business growth by building and acquiring new customers for the Airfreight product in Johannesburg.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Business Development: Identify and prospect potential clients in South Africa for airfreight through market research, industry events, personal networks, and sales techniques to generate leads and new business opportunities.
  2. Pipeline Management: Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline by engaging potential clients within Johannesburg.
  3. Sales Presentations and Proposals: Prepare and deliver tailored sales presentations, proposals, and quotations, highlighting DB Schenker's services and value proposition. Negotiate pricing and contractual terms.
  4. New Business Implementation: Document SOPs between customers and DB Schenker to ensure effective onboarding and integration across services.
  5. Collaboration with Internal Teams: Work with operations, pricing, and customer service teams to ensure seamless service delivery and develop tailored logistics solutions. Provide shipment updates and manage client expectations.
  6. Market Analysis and Reporting: Monitor industry trends, competitors, and provide insights and recommendations. Generate reports on sales activities, pipeline, and revenue forecasts.
  7. Customer Relationship Management (CRM): Use CRM systems to manage sales activities, maintain client profiles, and track interactions and reports.
  8. Sales Targets and Performance: Achieve and exceed sales targets. Regularly review performance and strategize for growth.
  9. Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry trends, participate in training, and enhance sales skills and knowledge.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Matric certificate essential.
  • Minimum 3 years' sales experience in airfreight.
  • Proven track record in business development within a multinational logistics company.
  • Relevant Bachelor and/or Master’s degree preferred.
  • High flexibility and willingness to travel.
  • Excellent interpersonal, cultural sensitivity, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in virtual teams.
  • Strong business acumen and results-oriented approach.
  • Own vehicle and valid driver’s license.
